Let's Get Personal

Let’s Get Personal

What’s the difference if I say what I don’t say?
I already know there’s no silver lining anyway
Let’s be honest I’ve been here before
In a past life. Yesterday.
And I’ve come to realize that what they say is true
The only value, through your eyes, in this world is you
Sitting there, glaring there-critical stare
On your spit shined pedestal.
Let us be rational
Perhaps understanding
If you would wish to listen
As I get personal.
I have loyally worked at being an asset for you
For three very long and stressful years
I’m always there for my shift on time
and through these years I’ve only taken one week off
for vacation.
No tips for the back of the house
No benefits or praise
No raise
No raise
No Raise
I am perseverance
I am dedication
I am promotion after promotion
With nothing gold to show for it
And I am the stone
Just a garment on your throne
As you make up false promises.
And I knew it would be this way
If I say what I don’t say
To wait, and waste my time
When I could have been appreciated
And treated just, and fair
As that time of change is coming
Because I’ve said what I don’t say
I asked you for that raise
And you threw at me an obstacle course
To get the bare minimum wage
Nothing more…
Than a slap in the face,
So let’s get personal
Take your job and shove it,
I ain’t working here no more
You say you’re not as cruel as you’re made out to be
And try to gain my pride,
Tell everyone you’ve done everything
The credit is yours to shine
Like the crown in your molars
I’m peacein’ out
See ya’ later… yo
