Desolate State

At my reflection in the mirror I see
feelings of indifference, no emotion,
I’m not the same person I use to be,
existing, going through the motions

Eyes empty once were full of light,
now heavy, tired and sad expression,
hollow black and dark as the night;
alone, isolated, in a state of depression

Once full of happiness, concern and care
now, void of kindness, love and empathy,
I’m now bleak, dismal, my soul is bare;
self centered and angry lacking sympathy

Filled with darkness, contempt and hate,
long is the road to my desolate state
