I Loved Her First

I loved her first
through the pain, through the worst.
When you were all she ever had,
and all you did was treat her bad.
You left her alone, high and dry,
and I was there to see her cry.
And it was I who never left,
who comforted her as she wept.
You could never notice a diamond in the rough,
or a woman like her who could be so tough.
Because even when you treated her the worst,
she always remembered, I loved her first.
