Go Outside

Someone once told me to keep my head up.
Yet I walk to and from every day with my eyes on the ground.
Cracked sidewalk with chalk-drawn pictures and cut grass
with purple flowers and green clovers pushing through.
A dead robin is pushed off to the side---feathers still intact, waiting for decay,
and for its bones to mix with the soil.
