We Forget

We forget.
We forget to love
we forget to live
We discard our hobbies

At one time we sang
and danced
at one time we played
or learned an instrument.

We forget to do what makes up happy
we forget how to take that time.
we forget why we stopped
we forget our innocence.

We throw away our happiness
we stop listening to our music
we mask our personalities
to gain a good job.

We do so much and study so hard
to forget what our lives really are
You no longer do theater
or Ballet. No longer run
across a basketball court

You no longer kick a soccer ball down the field
or run with a football under your arm
You cut your hair regularly.
You die it and style.

Forgetting that once you could care less
as long as you did what you loved.
You get up early and have coffee
And tiredly make it to your car
and you drive yourself to work.

But you forget. You forget to breathe
you don't remember that there's time
there is time no matter what to do what you once did
You can go back.

But who am I kidding, it's probably too late.
so sip your coffee. forget your dream of ever
owning a teashop
it won't happen

don't get a camera so you can start a channel on youtube
no one will watch.
don't think you have time for Video games
You don't.

You shouldn't go to college for theater
it is a waste.
Don't enhance your cooking skills,
you work as a line cook for McDonalds
you don't need cooking skills.

Don't write a book...
you wont get it published.

You don't have time for any of that anyway.
You have to get a degree or you mean nothing.
You have to get a job right away or you'll starve.
Put money in that retirement fund or you'll work forever!

Get back to the hospital or you'll die.
Can't you just go on life support?
Why isn't anything working?
You should have followed your dreams.

Goodnight Grandma,
I'll write a book for you

The idea came to me this is raw unedited and whatever came from my hands is what I put here.

It is society today. I realized it when I woke up and saw that my brother posted a picture of when he used to play piano and when he used to take lessons. I remembered that he doesn't do any of that anymore.

Then I remembered that I don't do what I love anymore either....
Then I realized most people forget it too..

The ending had a significance because it changed the tone; you are dying, in bed and your little grandchild is naive and she or he is telling you "I'll do it for you".

but you know they will forget too. If you're male I'm very sorry :P just pretend it said Grandpa.
