Those Days

Sometimes
I wish I could go back to
Those Days.

Those Days
Where Mommy dressed me
And I took my toys
The
horses
dogs
and
dolls
And I played with them in the
Summer Grass
With my little khaki shorts
and Teeshirt
And I never worried about
anything.

Those Days
Where I went to the pool
And splashed around with my
Friends
And back then
Every little kid was a friend.

Those Days
Where the hardest test in school was
Spelling
And getting high meant
On The Swing Set
And cutting was for Art Class
And teenagers were so big it was scary.

Those Days
Where Shut Up was a bad word
And calling someone a dumby was an
Insult.
And no one had even heard of SEX
except for
maybe
One Kid.

Those Days
Where no one wore make-up
(Except for Halloween)
And Tom Boys were cool
And every one hated Barney
And played fortune teller games
That you were POSITIVE told the truth.
Santa Claus was real.
The Easter Bunny too.

These Days
I don't touch any of my
Old Toys
Mom never dresses me
I'd die if I wore
Khaki Shorts
I don't go to the pool
Anymore
Not every kid is my
Friend
And the hardest test of all is
Learning to Cope.
