The World in Her Throat

Muted by the bubbling sea,
That just won't break the barricades.
The salt scraping over the walls,
A final high-tide wave until it caves.

Dancing under and around your shoes,
I'm only a tiny two inches tall,
Quiet as a mouse, I daren't open my mouth,
In case I were to flood us all.

Between us, there was once a balance,
Back when we held the same worth,
But you grew too big and left for space,
Leaving me to swallow the earth.

You swell taller, head floating amongst the clouds,
While down here I work, mending where you stand.
Kicking up the dirt as you go, as if you'd notice,
Who's choking back the sea from eroding the land.

Been putting everything as PG recently, only because some of the concepts might be a little too 'out-there' for younger readers. I'm just covering my arse xD
