Letters from a Worried Friend

Dear friend,
you haven't been doing well lately.
I see the marks
that cover your arms.
Why are you doing this to yourself?
I know something is wrong,
but you remain silent.
Silent
with your headphones
up on full blast.
We are worried.
Please don't go.
I see the tear stains on your face,
but pretend I don't.
You have such a great smile,
I wish I saw it more.
You show me a cut
that went to deep,
you were crying from the pain,
and the sting of hydrogen peroxide.
Please be okay.
We need you here.
We shake with fear
when after a bad night
you don't answer your phone.
We prepare for the worst
when you don't show up to school
for three days.
We don't mind you doing these things,
as long as you show up
eventually.
We live to love you.
Please don't go.
Sincerely,
Worried Friend
