Where Beauty and Status Don't Matter

We judge too much in school these days,
by beauty, by status and so many other ways.
I notice this every time I'm at school,
those who have beauty and status dance around the rules.

Those who have beauty and status are usually picked,
when those with talent, brains and bravery seem to not exist.
I see this as a way the world has gone wrong,
where the inside should count, nobody even goes along.

I wish someone would speak out for those of us,
who are tired of the bias because of beauty and status.
Those with talent, brains and bravery, stand up with me,
Because we are the lucky few to be all we could ever be.

Those with beauty and status, listen up,
There's something you ought to know.
There will be people who follow you like a flock of sheep,
but they are never fully behind you.

Look past the beauty, the status, and everything in between,
And see that we are all teens.
We are all individual, we all have something unique,
And I dare you to find someone, who is beautifully complete.

So, I wrote this about 3 years ago because of a talent show. The one who won the talent show only won because she was the director's daughter and the teachers were probably scared. The one I thought would win would be this one student who dressed as Phantom of the Opera and sang "Music of the Night" perfectly. The director's daughter had done an interpretative dance (which she fell and messed up a couple of times). So this poem came out because of it.
