Cold Nose, Warm Heart

Running.
Damp earth gives way beneath claws.
Pulse pounding through his chest.
Labored breaths, tongue wavering in a desperate pant.
But it's all worth it, just to reach her,
To feel her fingers course through his fur
Scratching all of those little spots that sends his tail into a frenzy,
His stumpy body convulsing with sheer happiness,
Unbridled enthusiasm.
Because a furry face and a cold nose can tell no lies.
