Between Cotton and Chiffon

Before his eyes, she's spinning, spinning, spinning
A carousel of coral chiffon and chestnut curls
A modern day Audrey Hepburn
She's the one guest at this party that everyone seeks out
To converse with, to touch, to hear her laughter.

In their formal wear, the two of them are blinding,
But he prefers the way she looks when she's undone.
Curls swept back, face bare,
So casual-cool in only his t-shirt and her underwear.
Freckled knees peeking out from beneath white cotton.
Their rehearsed lines fall to the wayside,
Replaced by the soft comfort of intimacy.
