With a hand clutching the coffee table, he becomes a little explorer.
And with every step, he adds more landmarks to his map.
Five chubby fingers pressed against dove gray walls,
Spongebob's toothy grin serves as a beacon, a mile marker.
Far beyond the safety of the couch where he watches cartoons with his dad,
Past the kitchen where his mom makes him blueberry pancakes shaped like hearts and teddy bears and smiley faces,
He reaches the vast endlessness of the hallway on unsteady legs
Just before he tumbles to the floor.
