Summer Storm

It started with
The pitter patter of raindrops
like cats pawing forward
stepping nimbly, treading softly
the rumble of the rain purred

other voices quieted
in anticipation of the storm
the dry damaged earth
Still radiating the sun's warmth

Then
The sky opened up
Torrents rained down
Water swept me away
And I drowned and drowned

There was movement and sound
and passion and confusion
I lost track of the ground
seeing the looming conclusioin

But
The sky cleared up
curtains came down
the show faded away
and I could only frown

You came in like a summer storm
Without warning, without doubt
I burned, you bashed and drowned me
But I needed you, to end my drought
