Look Beneath

You see a girl,
You see her curled up in a ball,
A tear from her eye,
You laugh ‘till she’ll cry.

You see a mess,
You don’t hear the protest,
That overwhelms her,
Inside this heart of hers.

You don’t hear the thud,
You don’t ever seem like you understood.

Why she runs to home,
When she sees your face in this dome.

Trapped,
Looks like fear’s overlapped,
You’ll never know,
Why suddenly she’ll go.

Why she’ll stand up from her stool,
Regardless of looking like a fool,
Strength will be her utmost rule,
But you won’t see that in high school.

You won’t see how she stands tall,
You won’t see how she will call.

Out into the night,
Only ever does is bite.

You won’t know if she dies,
Or the pain behind these eyes,
Will she live tonight?
Will she love in a world so…

So painful,
Yet so beautiful,
She knows fright,
But pain will she know?

She’s known what it is to break apart,
Known what it is to wanna restart.

She’s known what it is,
What it is,
What it is,
To say that you’re done with this.

Look beneath her act,
See beneath every fact.

And you will understand,
Why she needs your hand.

She is breaking up inside,
All she wants is to hide,
She wants you so close,
But it’s you who never knows.

Why these tears,
Fill her pillow.

Why these fears,
Have her swallowed.

By the monster deep inside,
The monster she tried to hide.

It’s coming back like lightning now,
It’s coming back to haunt her somehow.

See beneath her lies,
And look into her blue eyes.
