Heartache Fade Away

I long for this heartache to fade away, relentless
it stays, its followed me around awhile, its taken
away my smile; skies once blue now gloomy and
gray, if only my heart would obey, but it betrays

To my dismay every day, I feel anguish and pain,
I pray to God in vain for it to fade away, nightly I
bid heartache goodbye, in the morning it’s there
to greet me hi, to its unwanted presence I reply

Why won’t you fade away, come again, another
day, my heart is daily lead astray, heavily on my
heart you weigh, like a prisoner confined to a ball
and chain, but here you are and still you remain

The throbbing ache of heartache and sorrow reigns
over me, how elated I would be if you would flee
tonight again, I will bid you farewell; and maybe
tomorrow heartache will fade away and set me free
