The Weight of the World

He was once so happy with laughter in his eyes, but now whenever I see his face, my heart begins to die.

His eyes have lost their sparkle and his smile has lost its shine, though i wish that i could save him, i fear I'll cross the line.

I care so deeply for him, he makes me smile and sigh, but seeing him so torn down just makes me want to cry.

His love for his friends is unending and he shows us that he cares with the words that keep us from falling apart, so grateful for the gift he shares.

No longer do I hear him speak of happiness and joy, so caught up in the sorrows of others he forgets he's only a boy.

He carries the weight of the world upon his, now, tired shoulders. he pushes on ahead, struggling with the promise of moving boulders.

But those boulders, you see, are mountains, for which he cannot move, and I wish that I could help him, but there is so much I could lose.

Im frightened I may lose him to his kind and caring soul, for now he is imploding, he's no longer whole.

The weight of which he carries is crushing his once merry heart, but before we can save him from his fate, he must learn that he cannot always save us from the dark.
