Can you hear me now?

Well, can you hear me now?
I am dead,
so dead,
like a frozen rose that was stepped on -
shattered
into pieces
you can never tie back together.

So can you hear me now?
You said I did not
scream loud enough.
I tried,
I really did
not to feel the way I do.
Nothing helped.

Cocaine, heroine -
opposite results.
Just like you and me -
I'm vodka and you're a wine.
Soft and nice and classy - suitable for a better company,
I'm reckless, bitter and painful -
you only come to me when you want to forget.

And it's just kind of sad,
that when I held you
a blood was streaming down my arms.
I thought it was yours so I wanted to save you,
but it was me who was bleeding.
You cut me by your cruelty,
and now it's your turn to save me.

So can you hear me now?
Can you save me?
Can you tie back together
all those shattered pieces?
Can you be watter, instead of a wine?
Cleaning my wounds, ending my thirst.

Can you hear me now?

I sometimes wonder if you ever read those things I write about you.
