My Life in Poetry

You see that little girl?
Her eyes shining so bright
Trying so hard,
To get a word in edgewise

All of her friends,
They walk right by
Taking to her older sister;
Smothering her light

Her mind is different,
Her words come out wrong
Her thoughts shrouded in darkness,
Trying to find a place to belong

The family she lives in,
Taught to criticise
A child with few praises;
Stamped down with lies

Her Voice fades to nothing,
Her friends fantasized
Living in her stories;
Her life romanticized

You see that girl?
Her ways so quiet
Standing outside of a group;
Trying to smile away the shyness

All of those people,
They smile and they vanish
Everywhere, she's invisible;
Silently banished

One day, she speaks up
Yearning for love
He seems so polite,
But that's just a cover-up

When he pressures her,
How can she say No?
The one who seems to care,
She can't let go

You see that girl?
She's only 17,
Carrying a child,
By a man who only demeans

She's trying so hard,
To staunch the growing pain
To look away;
Without him, she's worthless again

A new life breathes,
All her past cares forgotten
Higher standards for her daughter,
The truth begins to blossom

A father, he is not
But an alcoholic slave
Regardless of low self-esteem,
Greener pastures; she craves

You see that woman?
Playing with her daughter
The only person in the world,
Who admits they love her

She depends on her parents,
She stays home to raise her baby
They whisper and they laugh;
Calling her stupid and lazy

Her daughter is all she has,
Not a friend to turn to
She's lonely to her soul,
But No one has a clue

She turned to the internet,
People who would talk
But as her love grew,
The people began to balk

She thought they listened;
Being thoughtful and sweet
But when she opened up,
They called her a creep

They accuse her of No life,
Too much time to spend
They push her away;
But they don't know where she's been...

May be lower grade than usual for me, it was more about the story than the rhymes.
