Torn

Mascara tear tracks ran down her once pale face, now red with hurt and anger.
She would now put a shield around her heart, to keep it out of danger.

Sobs wreaked through her now weak body like a tyrant wreaking havoc upon this once calm city; reeked with pity.
With a sting in her eyes, she closed them for a moment; the silence of a storm, bubbling up like hatred and scorn. Her heart was torn.

Once the words ripped out of her mind, she wanted to turn back time. A knot in her stomach, mouth dry as a desert, she let out a yell louder than any church bell.

A soaring pain in her throat, her scream approached--the gray clouds in the sky; she was telling her old-self goodbye.

Chest heaving, she stopped believing--in love; when it was once a beauty, pretty as a dove. Knees buckling, she groaned in pain, felt as if she'd been hit by a train.

As she laid on the wet asphalt, she knew it was her fault. And he would never leave her mind; she will think about him all the time...all the time, she'll never push him behind.

She finally opens her eyes, and it is love she despise. With those bloodshot, teary eyes, she still cries. And she won't say her goodbyes. . .
