Forget

Polished wood
Fancy enough to be covered in earth
And past that, the smoothest silk
With jaundiced yellow paper
pulled taut over bones

Open mouthed in shock
At years that have passed so quickly
And blemishes and wrinkles removed
By those who knew the shell not

Bodies speak to body
Bodies carrying body
Bodies burying body

All go home except the body
And pretend to recall the body for eternity

And all forget
