Stranger in the Alley

Silently, he waits.
Watching the elegant ladies,
And the clad gentlemen,
Dancing in the streets,
And streaming out of fancy restaurants.

Silently, he peers.
Observing the joyful children,
And the running toddlers,
Playing without a care in the world.

Oh what he would give,
To live like that again.
To be free.
But all that has been taken away from him.

For he is not what they say.
And they say what he is not.
And sooner or later,
He will strike his next victim.

And when the morning bells of liberty ring,
Their blood will cry out and scream.
Demanding their lives to be brought back.

Silently, the stranger in the alley creeps.
His next victim, unprepared.
