Drifting Into the Darkness

Oh Devil in the dark
Let go of my heart
In my sleep I toss and I turn
I can't keep my mind in your presence
You slither your way into my dreams
You speak to me in smooth tones and dare me
You dare me, you dare me

I turn against my friends
I leave my old life behind me
I embrace the darkness wrapped around me like a blanket
You smother my mind in your evil grasp
And I fight and I try
But I give in to the lies you so convincingly whispered to me

My thoughts all know your intentions but I push them away
I want to be free of my mind
I want to make your embrace my home
But I know your desire and I fight you
I fight you every waking minute of every day on the island I now call home

You've made me kill
You've told me it's okay
I hope they can't see that I genuinely enjoy it
They know I am drifting closer to the darkness
But they turn a blind eye to it
They follow me blindly in my search for power
They hear my screams in the night but they turn a deaf ear to my howls

The devil is in my mind
He urges my thoughts
He takes pleasure in seeing me take a life
He takes great satisfaction from seeing me drift
