Young and Innocent

When we were young and innocent, we always thought we would live forever

That life was just a fascinating idea and that we would never become broken.

When we were young and innocent we thought the ones we loved would live with us forever

That death wasn't real, just a silly notation.

When we were young and innocent we believed that the world was perfect

That the people in this world were even more so.

Then we grew up, and our innocence was taken.

We learned that all the things we believed were actually a lie.

We learned that life is a broken, imperfect entity

We learned that death is real, not just make believe

Our innocent little minds were broken and shaken

The world turned out to be a heartless, frigid place

The people in it even more so.
