In His Name

In god's name we kill, we die
In his name we invade, bleed lands dry.
We sit and plan, murder in our prayers,
To a so-called almighty who lives upstairs.

In god we trust our hearts and souls,
Give over to the need for love without knowing the toll.
We sleep and dream he will guide us with his hands,
Lead us to a place called the promise land.

What prayers does one who sells their body speak?
What kind words from a boy afraid when his bedroom door creaks?
What almighty guidance shall the lord have when,
He leaves us trapped within a lion's den?

In this promise land you hold so dear,
are angels trapped in bargains, locked in fear.
Their souls taken, their bodies tainted,
Does this fit the blissful image you've painted?
