Fruitless Temperance

Today we’ll be afraid of the things we pretend,
We will choose such a day to feel dread for our friends,
You and I know too well how these few rounds will end,
What will stop us from crash and from burning our trails?

The dessert and the hall don’t mix with quiet dreams,
They deserve pain and glass cutting over frail skin;
But I’m showing restraint; what’s that supposed to reveal?
It’s allegedly a blessing but it feels like a sin.

For the brash and the brave, wish I’d see you again;
You will not find your fate, searching in empty stairs,
What a lie to yourself, keep forbidding my name
From your lips, what a shame, hide behind your black veil.

Don’t you see where it ran? It ran all over me,
And the starless nightsky was giving up my tears;
Won’t you want me no more? Won’t I be in your sleep?
Please don’t tell silly lies of what is or isn’t real.
