Anxiety

Anxiety can take over you.
It's a powerful force that can be hard to fight.
You lose the will to fight against anxiety and it consumes you.
You lose control of your mind, then you start holding back
because this strong force has finally gotten the best of you.

Anxiety follows you, in each and every situation you may encounter.
Anxiety is there, changing the way you think and act.
You lose track of the lies told, the actions taken, and the person anxiety has made you become.

You forget who you were when you didn't have to fight against this strong, destructive force.

But anxiety isn't a force.
However, anxiety is a state of mind.
Anxiety can change your mindset and the way you approach certain situations.
Anxiety can make you do things you regret because of the fear that comes with it.

Handling anxiety is what can make or break someone, what can make someone weaker or stronger.
We all fight our own battles, like anxiety, but it's the way you handle it that defines you.
Don't let anxiety define who you are.
Face it full force, get help if you cannot handle it on your own.
You don't have to fight this battle with anxiety alone.

This is a poem I wrote a few months ago on my iPod Touch and never got around to posting, so I decided to finally post it. Anxiety is something I've been battling my whole life, but it really became prevalent two years ago. Be able to be strong enough to get help on your own or at all is a great thing to do. I hope you can get help if you cannot handle your own anxiety. Anxiety is not something you should have to face alone and there are ways to handle it better. Get a therapist, talk to a counselor, talk to a supportive friend or family member. Do whatever it takes to stop anxiety from holding you back. Stay positive!! :)
