My Favorite Sweater

You fit like my favorite sweater,
Warm and comfortable,
Familiar.
It’s so easy to slip right back into you.
You say my name
And there I am again,
Right back where I started,
Like I never lost you at all.
You make a joke
And I laugh the same laugh
And we’re right back in the old routine.
Warm, familiar, and comfortable.
They say I’ve outgrown the sweater,
Leftovers from a past life.
You don’t fit me anymore.
But I’ve never been good at
Letting things go.
You’re my favorite sweater,
Even if you’ve grown small and itchy.
I love you.
