Sandcastles And Sunsets

Need to write; need to get it on paper
Before the writing washes off of my hand
Need to put the information down somewhere
I won't allow myself to forget it again

Drifts away like a distant memory
Forgetting the knowledge from a past endeavor
Sandcastles and sunsets are truly beautiful
Sandcastles and sunsets can't last forever

The tide pulls up and washes away
All the writing that won't and can't stay
Pictures stay forever; but change in a way
Memories fade; I'll forget about that day

Beautiful things like sandcastles and sunsets
While gorgeous in the moment, can't stick around
The world looks pretty damn good from cloud nine
It looks much less appealing when you fall to the ground

The sandcastles and sunsets from a previous time
Have faded away; but with each line and rhyme
I can bring them back to mind again
We can forget; for a while, we'll pretend

Sandcastles and sunsets are nothing when they're gone
But time doesn't stop
It's time to move on
