Stay Okay

I come from the lazy afternoons.
When the sun beats down on your back,
Where the beach blazes and the sun shines,
And the waves meet the shore.
I’ve been around for a while;
I’ve seen kids play and days go by,
And my photos are still here.
Memories may never fade,
But people move on.
I’m here for the good times;
Although the things you need aren’t always there,
I see everybody try to have a good time
And make the day last.
What I do isn’t so important;
I take life as it comes.
Everything rolls by a little slower
When I don’t mind.
I am the wind that drifts through your open arms;
I push you back against the horizon with the help of gravity,
And I help you stay okay.

This is an old poem from seventh or eighth grade that I just reworked.
