Chimes of Wisdom

I followed advice ‘til sick at heart and listened to the chimes of wisdom,
For what?
‘Tis gone and lost and in its stead a new sound tingles
And resounds from afar as others dance and spin underneath the moonlight
Taking solace in the pleasure that the nightly glow fades in the morrow.
Time has changed and with it wisdom.

For the morning brings a new sound and is greeted by the birdsong tweeting
Every day weeps with storms, and smirks with shine, and revolves; it flies around the question
Yet here I sit, swallowed in self-pity, sick, for my confused state
Disguises the answer.

The future holds the pasts grip.
See the homeless remember and laugh aloud,
Alone ‘cept those that joined his thoughts.
Guilt slips through my veins smothering reason.

The greatest sin I cannot undo is stare out windows from a seat and watch the cigarette burn.
The wisps float and twirl towards their new beginning
Yet I watch from where I am stuck, immobile and deserted
While from afar I think of those who have so much and little.
And crack up.
