Injustice

Hate, discriminate
All continuing to illuminate

Facts against opinions
An endless war
When Justice isn't met
You hear the roar

17 years young
Trayvon from the south
An African student shot dead
On his way to his house

Behind the gun
George Zimmerman was there
Under the Stand Your Ground statute
It was self defense, he swears

Now we hear about a town with no such law
But again tragedy strikes, uncovering a flaw

In a suburb of St. Louis
Lays a bleeding Brown
Arms once raised in surrender
12 shots fired, took him down

Walking down the middle of the street
Is a good enough reason to die
At least that's how it looks
From Officer Wilson's eyes

People are uniting
Against the brutality of police
We want to be heard
Give us Justice if you want peace

Another recent heartbreak will hit you hard
Watch the video and you too will be scared

19 seconds
Hold your breath
Feel what Eric Garner felt
While in a chokehold of death

ME's confirmed what was already known
The footage could not be disputed
But killers get off with a slap on the wrist
And again our cries get muted

How many deaths need to occur
For something to be done
Take to the streets, band together, and march
This fight will someday be won

The violence, the shootings, the racist remarks
We need our generation to rise above, and start a new spark.

We all have our own opinions on what we hear and read in the media; Mine own representation and thoughts are what created this poem.
