I remember
Your lullaby
Your soft sweet voice
Singing
Ringing in my ears
As you tucked me in to sleep.
I remember
How you used to weep
When you thought I couldn’t hear
You thought I wouldn’t care
But I did.
At day
When I was away
You would wallow in your sorrow
And contemplate the knife
But at night
You would pretend that it was alright
For my sake.
I knew it was fake.
But I would listen to you sing
And drift off in peace
To dreams of happiness
And mindless bliss.
Your life was wretched
But your lullaby blessed.
So I remember

Which rang as you sang
