The Sun Is Shining

The sun is in the sky;
It's a beautiful day.
The trees shine in shades of emerald, jade and amber.
The stones on the ground all glitter,
As if embedded with tiny diamonds,
And the bronzed skin of all the half naked
Glows like sandy beaches.
The air is warm but not too heavy,
Because a gentle breeze blows,
Killing that stifling feeling.
Songs about sunshine and love blare in my ears
And the smile on my lips widens,
As I squint at my surroundings and watch
Everything sparkle.
There's hardly a cloud in the sky above,
And the ones that hover
Are like steam from my favourite meal.
The day smells like damp cut grass
And newborn flowers;
It infects my lungs
Like happiness in my chest.
Even mediocrity looks beautiful
When the sun is shining
And I;m thinking of you.
