The Secret Box

There once was a little girl
Who loved secrets.
Like toys or trinkets, she collected them,
Hidden away in her pockets,
And it made her feel very special
To have something all to herself.
But as she grew, so did her collection
Her pockets felt heavy, and her mouth tasted sour,
Like rancid milk
From the words she could not speak.

Until one day, she found a box.
A big, wonderful box.
Relief washed over her, and one by one
she filled the box
With every secret she ever kept.
Oh, how she loved this box!
She hid it away in her closet and admired it every day,
it's golden hinges and cherry finish...
But something was not right.
The little girl realized that if the box
were to break...
where would the secrets go?
Her throat felt tight.
Her stomach felt sick.
And she realized with a chill
That the box was now her biggest secret,
And also her most precious.

I might still change this around a bit.
