Wake Me Up

I'm on my knees.
I'm crying out to you.
Do you hear me? Can't you hear me?
On my knees for you. I give you all that I am,
All that I have. A broken man searching for anything.
You ask me to bear this cross, but hear me when I say
My back can no longer handle the strain.
There was a time I shed so many tears for the pains of this life.
That was so long ago. Something changed in me. A candle snuffed,
But the wick still glows dimly. I am here but not. Apathetic to all.
What I would give to feel. I long for companionship yet find
Solace in the isolation. I seek the day when you call me home.
I am not of this world and do not belong here, I yearn to leave.
My soul cries out to you Father, take these dry bones.
Take these bones and bring them back to life.
Scribe my name in the book of the living once again.
Rising from the ashes of my past transgressions,
I walk in the blinding light, so joyful and proud.
