By the People

Never once did they say it but by God,
We knew they meant it.
Of the people,
For the people,
By the people;
Truer lies were never spouted.
They like to think they know,
But they don't know.
What do they know?
Life is hard for people like you -
Get used to it.
We look left and we look right, but we may as well be looking straight ahead
For all the difference it makes.
Either way, we're all doomed.
People plead for revolution but the screams go unheard,
The deaths chalked up to coincidence.
All hail Apathy, drug of the masses.
Will we ever be free and equal?
Some say we already are.
Some of us are.
We are not the same as them - we are below them, beneath them.
It is our own fault, but we can change it.
No money, no effort, no time is required -
Just paper and a pen.
Fight with a cross, for it is your greatest weapon against your mistake.
Fight,
Or they will eat you alive.

Sorry about all of the political stuff lately; there's just one more, I promise. I'm trying to intersperse them with mushy love notes and self-help epithets to water them down. Equality is our end goal, to live as one unified, round world in peace and harmony. It is our word against theirs, and it is our duty to fight to be seen as important - don't let your silence be your downfall.
