Ocean Beauty

I am from the heart of the ocean.
Its gray skies are my eyes.
My skin still feels the smoothness of the water.
My hair was the golden sand in which I walked.
My skin was the color of the early sunset.
My voice was the sea bird’s song.
Oh, how I still miss the ocean.
My visits help the pain but little.
Though I lived there for a year, my heart never truly left.
Every time I see its water, my heart leaps for joy.
Its salty air and water calms me.
Its gentle winds and powerful storms showed me what peace truly was.
It’s where I first learned to swim, in the wrath of a hurricane.
The jellyfish taught me what pain was.
The roars of the waves send me to sleep.
The ocean’s beauty has stolen me.
The sea birds called me home.
Even though I visit, I never wish to leave.
And like I said,
I am from the heart of the ocean.
