A Leap of Faith

When you meet somebody, it's easy to be reserved, to take a step back, to wait for them to come to you. But do you ever think about what it could be like to take the leap of faith?
To do what your heart asks, regardless of the consequences?
I did.
I asked myself what could have happened if I didn't kiss that boy, or if I had agreed to that date.
If things would be different had I made out with that girl at a party one time.
But then I met you.
And I realised that I never understood what a leap of faith felt like.
It wasn't about diving into something completely blind.
It wasn't about taking a terrifying risk.
And that's why they call it a leap of faith.
Because faith is something that needs to be earned.
There needs to be trust. Friendship. The feeling of butterflies when their hand brushes your leg or the smile that spreads across your face when you see them.
The thing about a leap of faith is that it isn't a leap at all.
Because once someone is deserving of your faith, you don't see the risk or feel the danger.
And that's how it was when I met you.
The way that you made me feel was undeniable.
In the short time I had known you, you had earned my trust, my respect, my friendship.
And eventually, I knew you'd earn my love.
So when I decided that I wanted to be with you.
When I decided to put myself out there.
It wasn't a leap of faith at all.
It was a comfortable step into your arms.

So I don't care what could have happened if I didn't kiss that boy, or if I had agreed to that date.
If things would be different had I made out with that girl at a party one time.
Because all of those leaps that never happened, those misguided choices and things that may have been.
They all lead me here.
To you.
And there's no place I'd rather be.
