Walked All Over

I offer you my hand and it's taken
Smiling I help you off the lowly street
onto your swollen feet
into my heart where the fire is warm.

Falling to my knee's I reach for you
but your nowhere to be
my hand reaches nothing
and down into the dirt I go.

You knock on my door
I smile and lend you my ear
until it bleeds and bleeds
but for you I endure.

Looking to you for respite
I search all day and night
I find you over there
talking to others without a care

As I try and get your attention
you smile and nod and give no affection
my heart bleeds and bleeds
but you give no aid and I become bare.

You have fallen to the ground
a hand extended for my aid
a moment pass a tear goes by
as I let you stab my heart into disarray.

Someday you'll reach out and find me gone
you'll wonder why it feels so wrong
when you see me over there
talking to others without a care.
