Dark Eyes

Late and long the murmur driving
Mumbling of the time we spent
Two together, not forever
Wondering what our time had meant

Calm and precious, waves of golden
Darkness from the wet black skies
Rain upon us, all around us
Mirroring my friend, dark eyes

Smiles and staring, whispers sharing
Legends yet to tell back home
We were glories in our stories
Best of all, we were alone

Warmth and morning, always knowing
Life would have to gray once more
Softly parting, gently starting
Back to both our lives before

Sigh and silence, still I wonder
Where that precious spirit flies
Midnight lover, daylight other
Staring through those deep dark eyes
