Preconceived Notions

Ghosts don't have to be just the spirits of the dead
They can also be the living, stuck inside your head
And monsters aren't just creatures hiding under the bed
They can be people too; humans born and bred
And not every nightmare takes place while you're asleep
But sometimes with eyes wide open, where upon you they will creep
On the other hand
Not every angel is a blessing from above
Satan once had wings and was an object of God's love
And not every demon will try to trick you for your soul
Sometimes they're the most honest of us all
And not all darkness harbours only what is grave
Sometimes it's merely there to remind you of the brightness of your days
Anything is hardly ever as it appears
You will come to learn this over the passing years
There is only one thing in this life of which you can be certain
Death is right behind you, always itching to close the curtain
