The Dark and the Light

A pitiful distance have I traveled; a mere block to others’ miles.
Yet in my meager walk, many things have I seen.
Vicious creatures with no heart to speak of and eyes that fill the viewer with dread.
Angels that give to one’s heart’s content.
Those quiet, keeping to themselves. Wanting neither to give, nor to take.
I have been beaten down and trod upon. I have been loved. I have been pushed away, and pulled close. Yet, never cherished.
Until I met you.
A man of grace and beauty, of arrogance and anger. Calm and rationality, but brute and might.
Our love is not perfect, as neither you, nor I, are.
I see not only the bad, nor only the good. Beauty cannot exist without hideousness, as dark cannot exist without light.
And I? I cannot exist without you.
We are both the best and the worst that we can be, and I would have it no other way.
