Such a Happy End

The last day - of summer - before
We turned away - from all
The seasons that tell us what
to do and now - there’s no more
Uncertainty - no more
Not knowing what - to do

We - can open our eyes
without getting blinded by the sun
And we can go outside
without any clothes on -
it won’t be cold anymore
We - won’t have to hide anymore
The leaves won’t fall and
The last bee has died

We have taken down the moon
and put it in a box - and
The tides can have some rest now
Finally - no more grass to cut
Finally - there’s no more rain
We can stay - dry while we die

And finally - the world has stopped
The world has ceased - to exist
Just an empty space
As if nothing was - ever there
in the first place

And now the government’s less stressed
And the Christians don’t know what to make of it
And my mother forgot to pay the bills
And my father stopped doing the laundry

We stopped
We stopped and - listened - for a moment
Just the sound - of escape
And it was enough to - let us - breathe

I finally had - the time
To finish - reading my book
And what a happy ending that was
Such a happy end-ing
