Death Come Swift

Death come swift
My long lost friend
I've tried so hard
And to what ends?

My body alight
With righteous pain
A weary fight
With nothing gained

I wish to be
I just want to stay
No longer me
But rather they

Belong to none
Be none to some
And one by one
My memories done

I wish that I
Were happy here
I wish no one cried
I were held dear

So death come swift
My long lost friend
I'd rather drift
Along Time's end

No gentle hands
On me did find
But harsh demands
And fleeting kind

The breadth of sea
I'd gladly swim
To be with thee
Away from them

No happy smile
Not joyful fair
Would be in miles
Nor near with care

Swiftly, swiftly
Ravens fly
On mocking gentry
Would I with lie.

Ending time
When all is done
I've lost my mind
And all is none

Easier would
Existence be
If only I could
Be still with thee

So please come soon
My deadly friend
So my aching wounds
Endless sleep would mend.
