The Day Tomorrows End

Will there be colors to behold
Or will they all cease?
It will be lonely to traverse
Empty city streets.
Then again, no-one will be left
So it won't be sad.
I'm sure the last ones left will think
"How'd it end so bad?".

What will our legacy be,
That is, human kind?
Will we leave a better place
Or one that is blind?

Could we have stopped the fires
Or whatever it is that kills us?
Will we be the liars
Or will we all go without any fuss?

I will be long dead by those last moments,
I guess it's more of a gift than a curse.
Still I'm caught up on thoughts of what might be,
What will be humanity's final verse?

Don't concern yourself with silly
Things like generations,
This is about the bigger picture.
The legacy of human kind,
All of our relations,
What we do together is endless.
