As Us

"Le-et freedom ring"
Children sing so gracefully
Are we even free?

Define the meaning
Because my ancestors died
Deaths covered by lies.

Life, liberty, and
What was it? Happiness, right?

Statue sings glory
But where's the glory
When you're the minority
Once majority

Martin Luther King
He fought for equality
An inspiration.

All these figures learned
But great Natives not once heard
You sure you're his fan?

Books twist his words too
Tidbits learned in history
Authors pick and choose.

White men master rules
Convenience must come first

You know how it goes.

We work together
To make this country perfect
Equal voice for all
But they bend the rules
Steal from us, culture destroyed
What are we to do?

Equal rights movement

A fight we are still fighting
A war on our land
The time has come now
To bring our true history
Into view, for real.

I haven't heard back, so here it is.
