The Day That I Learned to Love

One day, I rolled out of bed
And landed directly in a puddle.
Water dripped down off my head,
But it never touched my shoulders.

The leaves of the trees above me
Were just now changing color;
My breath caught one, two, three,
And I was floating up above them.

All at once, the wind swept me up above
Toward the sun, the clouds, the biting breeze.
This was the day that I learned to love.
I would have it no other way.
