Song of Storms

Bells tolled softly in the distance, signaling an ominous arrival. Wind swept between trees, bringing dark clouds in their wake. A dark traveler stumbled down the road, a dark cloak covering him head from toe. The heavens opened up and sheets of rain poured down, battering the traveler, trying as hard as he could to swiftly find cover. But wounds held him back, cascading water blocked his sight, crashing thunder blotted out any other sounds. The traveler, lost in a senseless void, collapsed to the ground.
With his fall the clouds opened up ever so slightly, a single streak of sunlight reaching through the dark rains, falling upon the fallen traveler. His eyelids fluttered at the sudden experience of sensation, but the effort was futile.
