A Summer's Day

A field of flowers stretched out before Haru, who was unsure of how she had gotten there. A few buildings dotted the landscape, impossibly far away. A soft breeze brushed against her cheek before whispering between flowers, she watched as they bent to listen to the wind, blues and reds and yellows all leaning together to hear the its secret. Haru smiled at the sight, smiled at butterflies that fluttered from the curious flowers to the open air, forgetting for a brief moment that she was lost and alone. The wind stilled, the flowers stood straight, and the butterflies hid. Haru tried to walk towards the buildings in the distance, she began running when the distance refused to close, running faster and faster, heedless of trampled flowers beneath her tiny feet, she collapsed.
