Dust

The earth shook slightly, hardly noticeable up top, but under the surface the effect was amplified exponentially. Still miners worked, unperturbed by the rumbling all around. Dust fell, shaken off by the world's movements. A rock pinged off a worker's hardhat as he continued to work. Pickaxe biting into the earth, spitting it out, and taking another bite. The lights they had hanging overhead flickered, off and then back on, every so often while they kept on working.
